the third volume on British social trends. The third edition takes the time frame
to the
end of the century. Ferriss and Land review the Social Reproduction section and
Demography chapters, respectively.
The Philippines’ Social Weather Stations: An Update
Kenneth
C. Land reviews the status of Social Weather Reporting in the Philippines, a
continuation from the last update in the August 1998 issue of SINET. The review
concerns
a recent 2000 report sent by Mahar Mangahas, president of the Social Weather
Station (SWS), which includes an abstract of a paper on the topic of self-rated
poverty in the Philippines.
A World-Wide Reproductive Risk Index
Abbott Ferriss reviews a reproductive risk index for 133 countries, encompassing 95 percent of the world’s people compiled by Population Action International.
